The Belize Zoo : Educational Exhibit

branding | exhibit design | content management | design strategy

The Belize Zoo is a rehabilitation and rescue based zoo in Central America. The zoo has an educational outreach department dedicated to the proper education of the people and children of Belize on the importance and role that the native species play in the ecosystem. Belize and other Central American countries still have a heavy influence due to old folklore which often demonized animals based on spiritual or religious beliefs.

Exhibit content

This informational exhibit features six animal ambassadors of the Belize Zoo and their stories. These stories promote the education of the public on the importance of animal rehabilitation and foster stewardship and advocacy for international wild animal rights. The purpose of this exhibit is to create a strong narrative experience, allow people to bond with the stories of how these animals came to the zoo and create empathy.

This rendition of the exhibit is located in the Miami International Airport, a major connection hub before reaching Belize. The location was chosen to take advantage of the travelers on their way to Belize (maybe unaware of the Zoo as an attraction) People traveling to a nearby location and travelers who are wanting to visit Belize.

PASSPORT + Stickers

The stories and lessons of the exhibit are complied into a ‘passport’ takeaway. The passport includes work pages, a map
